At Academic Excellence, our MathWiz programs are designed to help students at every level—elementary, middle school, and high school—build strong reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills that last a lifetime.

Elementary Math (Grades K–5)


Our elementary-level MathWiz program builds a strong foundation in mathematical thinking, ensuring that students gain confidence and proficiency in the skills they need for lifelong success. Lessons are engaging, interactive, and designed to align with the Common Core Math Standards, covering all essential domains: 
 

Numbers and Operations in Base Ten

  • Understanding place value up to thousands and beyond
  • Comparing, ordering, and rounding whole numbers
  • Performing addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with multi-digit numbers
  • Developing strategies for mental math and estimation


Operations and Algebraic Thinking

  • Building fluency with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts
  • Solving multi-step word problems using equations and logical reasoning
  • Exploring patterns and beginning algebraic thinking
  • Introducing the concept of variables through real-world examples


Fractions and Decimals

  • Understanding fractions as parts of a whole and on a number line
  • Comparing, ordering, and generating equivalent fractions
  • Adding, subtracting, and multiplying fractions (upper grades)
  • Introduction to decimals and their relationship to fraction


Measurement and Data

  • Measuring length, weight, and capacity using appropriate units
  • Telling time to the nearest minute and solving elapsed time problems
  • Understanding money, making change, and solving related word problems
  • Reading, interpreting, and creating bar graphs, line plots, and tables


Geometry

  • Identifying and classifying 2D and 3D shapes by properties
  • Understanding concepts of perimeter, area, and volume
  • Learning symmetry, angles, and coordinate plane basics (upper grades)
  • Building spatial reasoning through visual and hands-on activities
 

Aligned with Common Core and Singapore Math standards, this course prepares young learners for success in upper elementary and middle school mathematics.

 

Middle School Math (Grades 6–8)


Middle school is a pivotal stage in mathematics learning, bridging the gap between foundational arithmetic and high school algebra, geometry, and advanced problem-solving. The MathWiz Middle School Program is designed to align with Common Core Math Standards, helping students deepen their understanding of numbers, strengthen reasoning skills, and prepare for advanced math courses and standardized tests.

Ratios, Proportional Relationships, and Percentages

 
  • Understanding and applying ratios and proportions
  • Solving problems involving unit rates and real-world scenarios
  • Working with percentages for discounts, tax, and interest calculations
  • Laying the groundwork for algebraic thinking
 

Expressions, Equations, and Inequalities

 
  • Writing and interpreting algebraic expressions
  • Solving one-step, two-step, and multi-step equations and inequalities
  • Understanding properties of operations and the distributive property
  • Using algebra to represent and solve word problems
 

Geometry and Measurement

 
  • Understanding and applying area, surface area, and volume formulas
  • Working with angles, lines, triangles, and other polygons

By the end of the MathWiz Middle School program, students gain confidence in advanced arithmetic and algebra, a strong foundation in geometry and statistics, and readiness to excel in Algebra I and high school-level math courses.

Students build the skills and confidence needed to excel in Algebra I and advanced math tracks in high school.

 

High School Math (Grades 9–12)

 
Our High School Math program empowers students to master advanced mathematical concepts and develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills essential for success in higher education and competitive exams. The curriculum is designed to deepen understanding, strengthen reasoning skills, and prepare students for college-level coursework.

Key Focus Areas:
 
  • Algebra I & II: Linear and quadratic equations, inequalities, polynomials, factoring, rational expressions, and complex numbers.
  • Geometry: Proofs, theorems, congruence, similarity, coordinate geometry, and trigonometry fundamentals.
  • Trigonometry: Unit circle, trigonometric functions, identities, and real-world applications.
  • Pre-Calculus: Advanced functions, sequences, series, conic sections, and limits.
  • Calculus (Introductory & Advanced): Derivatives, integrals, and their applications in science and engineering.
  • Statistics & Probability: Data analysis, measures of central tendency, distributions, and combinatorics.
  • Problem-Solving & Mathematical Reasoning: Focus on multi-step word problems, real-world modeling, and logical reasoning.
