PM - MN STEM CAMP I

Engineering is all about creating, building, and making things better! So what does it take to be an engineer? If you like math and science, you are off to a great start. If you enjoy discovering new things, solving problems, and learning how things work—even better! Creativity, persistence, and the desire to make the world a better place are also important qualities. Becoming an engineer requires hard work and a good education.

Our summer program will be a great start to your career in science and engineering.

MN STEM Summer Camp is a four-day fun-filled program designed to ignite interest in STEM. In an interactive environment, students from grades 2 to 6 obtain hands-on learning experience in science, math, technology, and engineering. Students will be placed in level-appropriate groups to enhance their experience. Using design and pattern association techniques and puzzles and games, students explore the application of math concepts. Students see math applied to real-world situations and will learn to tackle different challenges.

Each MN STEM offering will have distinct content and is geared towards providing unending fun and learning.

Week 2 (June 16 - 19)

AM - Geography Bee

The Geography Bee camp will help students prepare for competitions while also getting a broad-based education in the physical, political, economic, and cultural geography of the world we live in. This understanding will aid them in their middle school and high school and allow for a clearer comprehension of life within and outside of the United States. The fun way of finding pathways to succeed in math and science.

PM—Science Bowl

This summer camp enables students to learn core science concepts through fun science bowl-related activities. Students will explore various branches of science and will share their findings with the class. The camp will culminate with a friendly competition where students will be quizzed on multiple-choice and short-answer questions in the categories of biology, chemistry, physics, earth and space, energy, and math. If you want your child to excel in the sciences or become prepared for a STEM-related career, this summer camp is an apt fit. Let’s have fun learning about and exploring science!

Week 3 (June 23 - 26)

AM - Computer Programming II - Python

An introductory-level course where students will learn the basics of Python programming with fun projects. Introduces the students to a wider range of topics, including number operators, variables, errors, output, input, random numbers, conditionals, and loops. Students who are already exposed to these areas will explore the next level of topics like functions, dictionaries, and file operations. Students will work on projects like building adventure games, tic-tac-toe, guessing the number, or one of our many fun projects. Even with no prior experience with programming, learn to code your own graphics and games and create animated stories.

Each student should have access to a computer or tablet for hands-on activities.

PM - Art and Design

Explore the art world. Join the renowned artist for an unforgettable adventure! In a hands-on setting, explore diverse art mediums and techniques. Join the camp for Geocode sculpting, coaster making, fluid art, and much more.

Week 4 (July 7 - 10)

AM—Spelling Bee and Vocabulary Bee

Widen your vocabulary through analysis of word roots and meaning. Gain Spelling Bee tournament experience and skills that will help you become a dominant speller!

PM - Math Bee

This summer camp enables students to learn core math concepts through fun math bee activities. Through fun online games, students practice the most common mathematical problems relevant for their age. The camp will culminate with a friendly competition where students will be quizzed on multiple-choice and short-answer questions in math. If you want your child to excel in math or become prepared for a STEM-related career, this summer camp is an apt fit.

Let’s have fun learning about and exploring math!

Week 5 (July 14 - 17)

AM - Speech and Debate

What’s the point of having a million brilliant ideas if you can’t communicate them effectively?

In this workshop, students will learn how to give a unique, precise, and effective voice to their thoughts. They will delve into various aspects of storywriting. They will learn to follow a narrative arc, setting scenes by showing vs. telling, building tension by focusing on just the right details, creating credible dialogue, and more.

They will also learn to communicate in front of an audience. This camp will be packed with fun and interactive activities to expose beginners to the art of public speaking and writing. This camp will teach students confident presentation skills, audience connectedness, control of speaking anxiety, vocal variety, and use of non-verbal communication techniques.

Initiating these skills right from elementary grades solidifies the foundation on which students can flourish, both academically and socially, in high school and beyond.
